Wedding Decor Writer and Event Stylist
I did not start my career sitting behind a desk writing about weddings. I started it on venue floors at 6am, arranging centrepieces, adjusting floral walls, and figuring out why the sequin backdrop looked perfect in the studio and slightly off under the venue's track lighting.
I work as a writer and event stylist at K-Decor Studio Inc., which means my week can include setting up a full floral wall backdrop at a Windsor reception hall on Saturday and writing a guide about backdrop choices on Monday.
That combination is deliberate. I believe the only person who should be writing about event decor is someone who has physically dealt with the problems that come with it. Which centrepiece stand height works in a room with standard ceiling height versus a converted church venue. Why the chair style needs to be chosen before the linen colour, not after.
These are not opinions I formed from reading other articles. They are things I learned by getting them wrong first and then getting them right.
Every article I publish goes through the same filter: would this have actually helped me when I was standing in a venue trying to solve a problem? If the answer is no, I rewrite it until it does.
That experience is the only credential I think actually matters for this kind of writing.
